But when it comes to cybersecurity, AI takes on an even more important — and controversial — role. Is it our greatest ally in digital protection or a weapon in the hands of criminals?
On the defense side, artificial intelligence has revolutionized how we detect and respond to threats. Traditional security systems worked based on signatures — they only recognized already-known threats. If malware was new, it went unnoticed.

What does this mean for you? First, that you can’t blindly trust technology. AI is a powerful tool, but it’s not infallible. It needs human oversight, quality data to train on, and constant updates to keep up with new threats.
Second, that the human factor remains crucial. Awareness training, security culture, and basic good practices are still your best defense. AI can detect an attack, but only people can create a truly secure organization.

But we’ll also need regulation. Malicious use of AI needs to have consequences. And companies that develop these technologies have a responsibility to ensure they’re not easily converted into weapons.
At the end of the day, AI is neither inherently good nor bad — it amplifies the intentions of those who use it. The question we should ask isn’t whether AI is ally or threat, but rather: how do we ensure it’s more of one than the other?
